Getting a Life; Making a Living: How to start and run your own business

It can be hard to master your universe if your time is committed to a job you hate. Making your own path in life requires a steady paycheck. Getting a Life; Making a Living tells you how to turn your passions into an attractive small business to support your family. Alice Elliott Brown begins at the beginning to help you understand your own interests and the market for your talent. Want to turn your passion for hiking into a side business in nature guides and walking sticks? Want to make your talent at creating YouTubes a real business that supports your family? This book tells you how, step-by-step. This simple-to-understand book skips the philosophy filling the pages of business books. Rather, it goes right to the heart and the 1-2-3 steps of what to do. Exercises and quizzes turn this practical handbook into a course guide. It also has an associated blog where you can exchange ideas with other readers who are exploring their own start-up ventures. Mother Hen's Workbook: How to care for your Self so the stress won't hurt you

Caring for ourselves involves life management in multiple dimensions. Mother Hen's Workbook provides the forms, charts, measurement systems, and feedback you need to structure a healing therapy program for yourself. Covering eight forms of therapy, Elliott Brown helps you get in touch with all aspects of yourself to calm your nerves and relieve the stresses of living. This book ties the chakras and the inner mind aspects into a set of therapeutic practices for improving your health and your life.

The e-DNA Prophecies: How your DNA guides your soul

You've played the EdnaTalk game. Now read the shocking results. Are we robots, living in a virtual world? Is our life pre-destined? Or do we have free will? Find out what patterns are programmed into our DNA. Learn what EdnaTalk says about your dreams, the afterlife, free will, our purpose on Earth, and what happens when we die. You don't want to miss this first-time revelation.

The Homestyle Gourmet: Cooking for balance and beauty

There are two ways to stop a pot of water from boiling, Elliott Brown tells us. We can inject the water with chemicals to raise its boiling point, or we can turn off the heat. This engaging cookbook explains why our Standard American Diet is the equivalent of raising the boiling point on our health. Filled with more than a hundred recipes for healthy, whole foods, Elliott Brown writes for the home cook, using commonly available ingredients.

An American Herbal: Home remedies for a full and rich life

An American Herbal offers an in-depth explanation of the uses of plants and their essential oils for optimum health. Throughout history, plants have served as medicine. From the Yellow Emperor in China to Hippocrates, detailed descriptions of the uses of plants for healing balanced people's energies and improved their lives. Early American remedies, such as eucalyptus and willow bark, gave us vaporub and aspirin. In this enchanting work, Elliott Brown describes home remedies which are available to the average household. Using commonly accessible leaves, barks, berries, and oils enhances our health, in ways unimagined by today's pharmaceutical industry.

About Alice Elliott Brown

@theMOMU Avatar

Alice Elliott Brown (@theMOMU) is a software executive living in the Washington DC area. She has over thirty years experience in both business startups and corporate management. A serial entrepreneur herself, she is currently the author of the Giant Magnet series of books on lifestyle management, covering personal development topics in career, self-awareness, healthy living, personal empowerment, and family traditions. She advocates integrating your life with balance and forethought, rather than running yourself into the ground for a paycheck.

A graduate of the Harvard Business School and the University of Pennsylvania, Alice Elliott Brown raised three children while pursuing her passions in multiple areas of an integrated life. In her career, she traveled extensively, at one time collecting three hundred thousand frequent flyer miles. She climbed the corporate ladder, and didn't like the view. She started businesses, some that failed, some that succeeded. Her favorite quote is by Henry David Thoreau:

"As if you could kill time, without damaging eternity."

"Books by Alice Elliott Brown don't waste your time.
They hit the spot dead-on."
